Yesterday evening nearly 300 people, newcomers and industry professionals, came together at the RBC Auditorium in Toronto to celebrate the launch of Arrive Connections. Even before the speakers and presenters took to the stage, the place was buzzing with energy and excitement as the attendees demonstrated how networking works, actively engaged, exchanged introductions with one another and started building their professional network.

Co-founders, Shikha Bhuchar and Tricia Jose welcomed everyone in the packed auditorium and unveiled the latest feature—Arrive Connections—on the Arrive platform. It is said that as much as 65-85% of the jobs in Canada are not posted online. This is why building relationships with people who can support you and help you get your foot in the door is crucial! Arrive Connections is dedicated to support newcomers by helping them build their social and professional networks through curated connections.

The voices of Zubair Patel, Chief of Staff to the Ministry of Immigration and Mike Dobbins, Chief Strategy & Corporate Development Officer from RBC, filled the auditorium as they shared their thoughts about Canada, the importance of immigrants to Canada’s economy, and RBC’s strategy for newcomers. RBC is committed to going beyond banking to help newcomers make Canada their home, and Arrive is a dynamic example of how RBC is making an impact! RBC Ventures, Ownr and Prepped joined our partners: TRIEC, LinkedIn, ACCES Employment, the RBC Newcomer Branch, all of whom are dedicated to supporting newcomers.

Arrive’s esteemed Ambassadors shared their inspiring success stories while our guests from the RBC newcomer branch narrated their experiences and insights which instilled confidence and hope in the audience. Jake Hirsch-Allen, responsible for Higher Education and Workforce Development at LinkedIn Canada, capped the evening off by inviting everyone present to connect with him! The presentations and panel discussions were followed by an hour of networking accompanied by delicious food and drinks. Newcomers, recruiters, Arrive Ambassadors, RBC executives, and industry professionals alike seemed to truly enjoy the opportunity to connect.

This was just the first of many events to come! Stay tuned for our career-focused workshops, clinics, and networking events. Watch the Arrive launch video “For Your Life in Canada” here.
