As a newcomer to Canada, applying to jobs, having a resume that matches the Canadian format and one that highlights your experience and skill set is critical. Needless to say, your resume is the first impression that a recruiter or a hiring manager has of you. That makes it essential for the resume to be clear, organized and customized to the role you’re applying for.
This event, organized by Arrive and RBC provides a unique opportunity for newcomer professionals to have their resume and cover letter reviewed by industry professionals from a wide variety of roles at RBC including HR recruiters, Marketers, and Business Intelligence professionals.
It is a well-known fact that up to 65-85% of the jobs in Canada are not posted online. These positions constitute the “hidden job market,” which refers to positions that are filled without the employer advertising the job opening publicly. These positions can only be accessed through connections and professional networking. Some other helpful outcomes from impactful networking can be: introductions to other individuals who may be able to help you, conversations leading to interviews and even job offers, mentor connections, insights into the ongoings at specific organizations and their hiring processes, as well as learning more about the industry you are interested in.
